Listing Magpie privacy notice

Last changed 7 November 2026

Listing Magpie writes and manages eBay listings from photos. Violet Pixels (violetpixels.co.uk) runs it. This notice covers the website, listingmagpie.com, and the app, app.listingmagpie.com. The app isn't open to the public yet: only people with a Listing Magpie sign-in can use it.

The website and the waiting list

  • When you join the waiting list, we keep your email address, what you sell if you tell us, and the date you joined.
  • We use them only to email you about Listing Magpie opening. We don't share them, and we don't sell them.
  • We keep them until Listing Magpie opens to everyone and we've emailed you, or until you ask to come off the list.
  • You give your consent by joining, and you can take it back at any time: contact Violet Pixels through violetpixels.co.uk and we'll remove you.
  • The website sets no cookies and uses no tracking or advertising tools. Like most web servers, ours keeps a short technical log of each request, including the IP address, for security. These logs are deleted after 14 days.

What the app keeps

  • Your Listing Magpie sign-in: an email address and a password, which is stored scrambled (hashed), never as typed.
  • The photos you upload and the listings written from them. Location (GPS) details and other hidden data in photos are removed.
  • The connection to eBay. When you allow Listing Magpie to use your eBay account, eBay gives it access keys. These are stored encrypted. They let Listing Magpie create and change your listings, read your postage, returns and payment policies, and read your eBay user name.
  • Files you import from eBay Seller Hub: your active listings and your orders. From the orders file, Listing Magpie keeps the order and item details only. Buyers' names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers are skipped and never saved.

Who else sees it

  • Photos and listing details are sent to Anthropic's AI service to write the listings. A photo taken for a price check is sent to it too, then thrown away.
  • Listings, with their photos, go to eBay when you publish them.
  • If you add a CompSniper key for sold prices, the search words of each price check, and of each listing priced from its sold prices, are sent to CompSniper, which looks up eBay's sold listings. The listings it returns are kept with the price check (or the item) for 90 days. The key is stored encrypted.
  • Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared for advertising.

Removing your data

  • You can disconnect your eBay account in Listing Magpie's Settings at any time. This deletes the access keys straight away. You can also remove Listing Magpie's access in your eBay account settings.
  • Listing Magpie receives eBay's notices about closed eBay accounts. If the eBay account connected to Listing Magpie is closed, Listing Magpie deletes its access keys for that account.
  • Deleted photos, and people removed from the waiting list, are removed from the server straight away. Nightly backups keep them until those backups expire.

Questions
